A typical day as a computer science student at the University of Washington might start with an early morning lecture on the lower north side of campus, in the Paul G. Allen Center for Computer Science & Engineering. After class, many students make the short walk to the nearby UW Engineering Library. The Bill & Melinda Gates Center for Computer Science & Engineering is also located in this area and hosts several CS classes, club events, and research facilities. These short distances between class, home, study time, and extracurricular activities make The Standard at Seattle a popular off-campus apartment for students enrolled in this major.

A typical day for students studying biology, chemistry, nursing, or another health-related subject may begin in the Health Sciences Education Building. Biology students can head to the nearby Life Sciences Building for additional classes, labs, and department resources. Chemistry students may continue further onto campus to the UW Chemistry Building or Bagley Hall. Nursing students often spend time in the Warren G. Magnuson Health Sciences Building, home to the UW School of Nursing and located adjacent to the UW Medical Center. With classrooms, laboratories, and health science facilities concentrated along NE Pacific Street on the southern edge of campus near Portage Bay and the UW Medical Center, students can move between home and their major-specific buildings without traveling across Seattle.

Business students spend most of their time between PACCAR Hall, Dempsey Hall, and Founders Hall, three of the most popular study and hangout spots within the Foster School of Business. Between lectures, students often remain in this area to meet for group projects, attend club events, or study in the buildings’ shared spaces and libraries. The Foster School is close to the top entrance of campus (North Campus), and is approximately a 10-minute walk away from The Standard.
